Good Friday Countdown 2027

Good Friday 2027 is the Friday before Easter Sunday, shown above with its exact date. This countdown runs to midnight in your own time zone.

A date that moves. Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21, so Good Friday can land anywhere between March 20 and April 23. This page recalculates it every year.

What it marks. For Christians, Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus, two days before the resurrection celebrated on Easter Sunday. Many churches hold services in the afternoon, around three o'clock.

A long weekend in much of the world. Good Friday is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries, opening a four-day Easter weekend where Easter Monday is also off. In the United States it is not a federal holiday, but the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq close, and a few states such as Hawaii observe it.

Hot cross buns. In Britain and across the Commonwealth, the spiced, cross-topped buns are the traditional Good Friday breakfast.

Keep the countdown on screen until the long weekend starts, or create your own for your Easter trip or family gathering.
