JEE Main 2027 — How Many Days Left

JEE Main is the national entrance test for undergraduate engineering in India, conducted by the National Testing Agency. It opens admission to the NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutions — and it is the gate that must be passed before JEE Advanced and the IITs.

Two sessions a year, usually January and April. Candidates may sit both; the better of the two scores is the one that counts, which is why the January session is rarely treated as a rehearsal.

Three papers, different purposes.

• Paper 1 — B.E./B.Tech: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, 75 questions, 300 marks.
• Paper 2A — B.Arch, which adds a drawing test taken on paper.
• Paper 2B — B.Planning, with a planning-based section.

Marking is +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one in the multiple-choice section. The numerical-value questions carry the same +4, and a negative mark as well since 2023.

Normalisation. Because the test runs across multiple shifts on different days, raw marks are converted into percentile scores computed per session. A percentile is not a percentage: 99 percentile means you scored above 99 % of candidates in that session, not that you got 99 % of the marks.

The top scorers — the cut-off shifts each year — qualify to sit JEE Advanced.
