CBSE Board Exams 2027 — How Many Days Left

The CBSE board examinations are the end-of-school examinations for Class 10 and Class 12, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for its affiliated schools in India and abroad. They usually run from mid-February into April, subject by subject rather than in one block.

Class 10 and Class 12 do different work. The Class 10 result determines the stream — science, commerce, humanities — that a student can take, and the subject choices made there constrain everything downstream. The Class 12 result is the one universities and entrance processes look at, and it is the eligibility gate for NEET, JEE and CUET.

The date sheet, not the date. CBSE publishes a subject-wise date sheet months in advance, and the gaps between papers are uneven by design — the harder subjects usually get more preparation days. The countdown above tracks the start of the session.

Two attempts in the year. From the 2026 cycle CBSE moves Class 10 to two board examinations a year, with the first mandatory and the second available as an improvement attempt; the better score stands.

Practicals and internal assessment are held separately, before the theory papers, and carry marks that are already banked by the time the written examinations begin.

Compartment examinations exist for candidates who fail a limited number of subjects, so a single failed paper does not cost the year.

The official date sheet on the CBSE academic site is the only authority on timing.
