Google Sites

Add a Countdown Timer to Google Sites

Set up your countdown, copy its embed link and paste it into Insert > Embed in Google Sites. The countdown runs live on your school, club or event page.

Why use it

01

Two ways to embed

By URL tab: paste the countdown's embed link, the one ending in /embed. Embed code tab: paste the iframe code. Both show the same live countdown.

02

Made for schools and clubs

First day of school, exams, a school trip, a tournament, an annual meeting: Google Sites is the tool of many schools and clubs, and the countdown goes in without domain admin rights.

03

Always on time

The countdown is computed live in each visitor's browser. Nothing to republish: change the title or colours from the countdown page and the site follows.

04

A date everyone can see

At the top of the home page, the countdown answers the question you get most: "when is it?".

Frequently asked questions

By URL is the simplest: paste the link ending in /embed. The iframe code is for when you want to set the height yourself. The regular countdown page link would show the whole page.

Click the embedded frame in Google Sites and drag its handles until the whole countdown shows. Then check the phone preview.

No. Embedding works on Google Sites with a regular Google account as well as with Google Workspace for Education or Nonprofits.

Yes, it is free with no sign-up. The free widget shows a small "Powered by WatchIsUp" credit. The Pro version removes it, makes the widget non-clickable and matches your colours.
